Hazel Dormouse Surveys
Dormouse surveys are required where a development may affect suitable habitat for dormice such as woodland, hedgerow or scrub and/or if records suggest presence of dormice in the area.
Dormice are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act (WCA) 1981 (as amended) and the Conservation of Habitats and Species Regulations 2017. It is an offence to kill, injure or disturb a dormouse, or to damage, destroy, prohibit or obstruct access to places of refuge.
Our dormouse specialists will assess the site and provide expert advice on the most suitable survey needed for your requirements. We can also design and implement suitable mitigation measures. If dormouse presence is found on a development site then a licence from Natural Resources Wales may be needed. We can apply for a licence on your behalf and guide you through every step of the process.
